In the past I have used macropoint and just denied all but location permissions. Then when I was done I uninstalled it and went on my way. Simple enough. Newer Android versions allow that granular access restrictions when they're requested so it's not hard to do.

Agreed. Four Kites and MacroPoint that the driver download is free to you but the brokerage pays the fees. It isn’t a free service. I’ve been considering setting it up for myself to pay MacroPoint to supply the person I’m hauling for the information. It’s free to them in that case but I’m paying for it. It’s based on how many links you’d be generating a month and the price varies. For me, it would be about 200.00 a month. Imagine if you’re moving thousands of loads a month. It’s not a cheap service.

That broker would be told to kiss me where the good Lord split me.

If they want to know where you are, let them call and ask.

Had a Landstar broker call me every 1hr because I had very high worth aircraft equipment in the trailer.

If I’m supposed to not use the phone per dot how am I the bad guy for ignoring the brokers call?

I think there are apps that can spoof your location.... That could be fun if you need to stay awake.

Yeah, I'm in Utah but it's ok, I'll be there in time.

The one time I did that for fun the broker must not have checked because I didn't get a phonecall inquiring on why I was in Guam.

That's the proverbial nail on the head right there. OOs take a leap of faith while they wait, wait and wait some more (sometimes over 30+ days) to get paid. The broker/shipper can wait for updates whenever they get them just like I watch my bank account for a deposit. I could care less about being "trusted" with their load either. 100k cargo insurance is mandatory and easily verified before said load has left the shipper.

    This.
Don't install the app and answer only when it's convenient for you. The company I just started working for told me that they don't give drivers' numbers to brokers because they don't want us speaking to them. By all means.

    Mattflat362 and DSK333 Thank this.
