Was thinking about signing on with ooida insurance Got a decent quote from them I attached a list of brokers they know who will not accept their insurance. How big are they? Is this gonna be a problem? I run flatbed.

I could bnot think of anybody having a reason except for landstar, and sure enough it is first on your list. I would do something different just for that reason, BUT you may not even be able to haul for them anyway the first year. It may pay to go ahead and get the cheap insurance for the first year and change if you need to when you haev a year in and can get cheaper insurance. Just one more thing to think about.
Wespipes Thanks this. -
Ya I believe landstar requires a yr if I'm not mistakin

I've never worked with any of those brokers running flatbed OTR except BESL who took 80+ days to pay.
90% of landstar offices are scum not worth even trying to work with. I've set up with them, but never been desperate enough to work with them.FoolsErrand, Intothesunset and Wespipes Thank this. -
This is what I was looking for. Good news! THANK YOU!

I didn't even read past landstar, but I had the exact opposite experience with them from what you describe. I have had loads that paid up to 16,500 from them, and even the very last haul I did before I left otr was running 2 loads a day for them 6 days a week for over a month, they paid me daily on that gig, and it was hard to quit when I did too.singlescrewshaker Thanks this.

I acknowledge that there's 10% or so that are good. you've been up in AK for a while from the sounds of it though. Land stars brokerage division turning into garbage is a somewhat recent occurrence. I'd say last 5 years or so.FoolsErrand, Intothesunset and singlescrewshaker Thank this.

Landstar isn't the end all be all, but has done good by me. I don't haul their garbage either, but they have fair rates often enough. I'm under a global-tranz 10k lb load as we speak that's paying $2.73 pm outa FL. I wouldn't want them crossed off my list either..Last edited: Oct 12, 2019

Well at the time I was on their preffered carriers list and could fax in bills and get paid just like their oo's, and they sure did well by me. Now I am not saying they didn't have junk cheap freight too, they did and always have, but nor their had to haul it.
They may have gone to hell since I have been up here, but I still see there trucks up here and know some that are still leased to them and doing well. If something really really bad happened and I had to come back down there and run, I would give them a look for sure.singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
Landstar has a load i know posted for $1300, that another broker offers for $2600.
I hauled crane mats for landstar first week of september that they admittedly double brokered from jones... And their 2 day quickpay promise was actually a 6 week slowpay fiasco. They were quite difficult about it.
if the landstar bigwigs are so great they should clean up their dirtbag agents. Im not impressed.singlescrewshaker and Opendeckin Thank this.
