Brown Anti-Freeze!!

I didn't see it stated what motor type this was but I had this happen on an ISX and it turned out to be a bad oil cooler.
I didn't change it for a while trying to figure out what it was and it eventually sprung a bad leak and turned into a substance the had nearly the same consistency as grease. I changed the cooler myself and it was actually pretty easy and I was told to use Cascade. It didn't work. I tried dawn dish-washing soap and ran the truck for a couple hundred miles and it did the trick. It took a while to get it all out but it worked beautifully and the truck is still running fine today. Never got any water in the oil as far as I could tell. The oil pressure overcame the water and it leaked oil in the water system. Your problem may be different but thought I would through it out there.

 

I am curious as to what the mixture ratio should be when using Dawn or Cascade. Just how much of either one should you use?

 

how ya doin don? I put 2 cups of dawn to every 5 gal of water when I did it. drained the rad and heater cores and block. then poured in the soapy water as warm as possible with the motor being warm ran for 30 minutes, drained everything again and repeated two more times. squeaky clean.
