It's just a military like appearance. When I worked for Georgia Department of Corrections (West GA Boot Camp) it was a requirement there as well. It's not a big deal and it's a family like atmosphere. But, all careers aren't for everyone.

Not trying to compair, just trying to say each job has things you may not want to do. Only thing you need to ask yourself is, what am I willing to put up with. Me, personally, the shaving thing wasn't a big deal. If it is to you then I'm sure you'll find something else.
For instance, I like knowing that I don't have to worry about load boards or going into an area that I can't get out of without eating unpaid miles. But, by doing this I make the same paid miles whereas if your booking your own freight you may get a better loaded pay per mile.
