On a 2-2.5 hour unload sometimes ya forget you're unloading cause you're back in the truck in the A/C or your cruising the TTR forum and dont realize the trailer has changed sound right way.

How does getting home work?? Do they say anything if you deadhead home rather than setting around. And how does time off work is there a set amount you can take off?? These are questions I’ve nit found answers to

Depends on your home location and the division you go in. For example, I "live" in CO but work in the hopper division. I have relatives in western AR I generally take hometime at every other weekend for a reset. About every two months I take off for a week or two and go to my place in CO. Back when I did tank, I got sent loaded to CO about once a month for a 4-5 day stay before going back out.

There is no set amount of time for hometime. Take as much or as little as you want, but if you take off for much longer than a couple of weeks, they may want you to leave the trailer at one of their yards, preferably the one in NLR. Both for security and in case they need use of it.

It really depends on where you live, what division you pick and how you want to run. I know a couple from Alaska who work 6-8 months straight on tanks then take the rest of the year off. They leave their truck and all at the yard in NLR when they go home. Lot of hopper guys that live in AR-OK-TX area go home every weekend. Just depends.

How are the miles in the tank division? Lets say if you stay out for 10 days?

Depends on your home location. They have very few tank guys going home that often that aren't in Arkansas. Fourteen days out is pretty much the bare minimum for doing tanks. And, from experience, your first week would be good to spectacular. But your second week would be "meh" at the absolute best.

When I ran tank, I ran 3-4 weeks out at a time and went home for 4-7 days. I averaged a little over 2300 miles a week that year by the time you take the miles I ran for the year and averaged it out of 52 weeks. I had about 2 months of time off between personal time and breakdowns. Some weeks were go go go and others weren't worth rolling out of bed for. A time or two I net over 5k after fuel and all the deductions. More times than that though I got less than 1k just depending on how the week fell apart or if I went home.

It all comes around at the end of the year when you sit down and get to figuring for tax time.
