itaff, I've just read through the whole thread, GOOD LUCK man, continued success!....I'm wondering about your numbers, I guess, the way you've put them out has me a little confused, when you say you're pay, is that net (after ALL expenses e.g....diesel, truck payment, plates, insurance, IFTA...), or net/net (all of the previous plus taxes)....I'm currently an owner operator (paying for my dealer bought truck) running Intermodal in Chicagoland, but I'm considering buying a second truck (in about two years) through a l/P and going back OTR (put a driver on the first one). That's why I'm so interested in your numbers as it seems you're deal is working out.
It seems on every thread in TR people report their numbers slightly differently making somewhat hard to gage their success...Currently, I'm clearing between $2,300 to $2,900 net a week (home every night) but I only pay myself 1K per week ($1,420 including taxes) and bank the difference.
Good luck again and please keep the thread going!!!

Ok.. So the load from Georgia to Washington is done. My next load will be apples back to Kansas City area so we can get this EGR replaced..
I don't pick up my apples until Friday, that is fine, I need a day of sleep, so tired..
I took advantage of not going anywhere fast today and drove through the snoqualamie range, stopped and took a hike on a trail down to the snoqualamie river and sat with my boots off soaking my dogs.. Enjoyed about 30 min of that then hiked back to the truck and enjoyed a few wild berries I found on the trail..
Drove to Ellensburg, and am currently parked at the loves, wish I would of stayed in the cooler mountains, and not dropped into the valley.. Going to get some rest, watch a movie and get some more rest. Maybe walk to the river tomorrow and take a dip!!
Thank it's inportian to stop and smell the coffee sometimes.. Very thankful for that opportunity today and tomorrow.. -
Hey man... Loading out if Tony here in Salina... What do you normally get pay wise out if here before your cut? They are killing me with this cheap freight this week.
itaff Thanks this. -
Yah, Schwan loads are pretty cheap paying! I'm showing $2507.89 for freight and $472.75 for fuel.. And that was for the two stop load.
But I usually find get loads paying better coming back out of Washington. The big thing for me is fueling in N.Platt, Casper or Cheyenne with enough fuel to get in and out of Washington..
I know coming out Trout man found a potatoe load, we also haul wine, and I'm grabbing apples this time, should pay about $3500.00 for most them loads going back south..
It's cheap coming up but if fuel is managed right, and after you lose 30% to the company, you should walk away with $1,500.00 as your share.. I like em, just because I prefer the cooler weather up here..R.Hagar Thanks this. -
Two drops in Los Angeles for Monday... 1472 miles... 2041. 60 plus 507.85 for fuel.... And I'm on it for 5days.
I pick up the trailer and it's got two bald tires, slider won't move, and lights are out... I'm really aggravated today. -
Well you will probably use about 295 gal of fuel so approximately $800 - $850 there.
There 30% is $613 dollars so that will leave you roughly $2,250 - $2350.. That averages out to $460.00 a day at 5 days.. That's not terrible, I do it for that..
Man I'm sorry to hear this about the trailer, I've run into the same darn issue with finding a trailer that another driver felt was fine to drop off.. I hope they get you fixed up pretty quick and on the road..
Safe travels man..R.Hagar Thanks this. -
Once they take there cut its 1510.40 plus fuel... Looking at about 600 for fuel maybe little more.... So 1510.40 for 5 days... Man that's terrible for five days.
Anyway... Trailer is now over axle so now I'm dropping it again to get the load shifted, then off to get two tires put on it.
Once they take there 26% I always end up pulling freight from Schwan's for less then a dollar a mile... There is no money in that.
Fuel is running me about. 39 cents a mile, 45 cents to cover truck, maintenance and taxes... That leaves me in the hole on paying myself...itaff Thanks this. -
Dang.. Is it too late to tell them no??
-
Yep.. I called and threw our the idea of a load board along with my complaint... I just now got rolling at 330... All day affair with this trailer.
Some weeks are great others are not.. But like I told them... I can't run a truck on this pay. Maybe they can... But a one man operation is a no go.itaff Thanks this. -
Here is a good quote I'm going to hang up, "A bad attitude is like a flat tire, you can go anywhere until u change it"
And on a more positive, it's mother trucking Friday boys and girls!!
Be safe out there!!
