Inverters are not cheap and they do burn out. Not to mention they cause allot of electrical interferance. I don't know how guys manage with them on all the time for fridges etc. I had a victor and when it was on I had to turn my cb of or it would just scream with interferance. And that was with a good noise filter on it.
I'm off to Maverick saturday. trying to get the price differnce in th bus and renting a car. I'm not riding the big grey dog

But yes, I do plan on getting a good quality inverter that I won't have to worry about it burning out. Or at worst, changing out a fuse.

I hope you do not live far from their terminal. You'll have to figure out a way to get your car back home.:biggrin_2557: They do give you decent company vehicles to drive around to run errands after class.

Steven's called > out 3-5 weeks at a time, nothing else
... JBHunt called > min recent experience required
... message to call Melton ... will do shortly
USF Glen Moore called with offer ...
... Crete and Shaffer both offered me a job but would not guarantee me a regional position so I have not accepted employment with them yet. They told me I would do training and then be assigned to National Region first. Then I could apply for Regional positions when available.
... I just spoke with a USF Glen Moore recruiter who told me I could have a Regional position as soon as training was over so I am going to begin my paperwork process with them to see if I can get employment. Thier training is 3 days in Knoxville for me, then 6-10 weeks with trainer. Good things are, lodging & meals provided at orientation along with $500 pay. $500 per week pay during training. Free Idle Aire, SE Regional position avg 2800 miles weekly, BlueCrossBS insurance, 401k w/50cents/dollar match, 1 wk vacation 1st yr, 2 wks 2nd yr, International Eagle 05 up w/ 10sp conventional, 5-6 days out w/ 1-2 days hometime.
... ??? start at .29cpm after training w/ Rand Mcnally mileage pay ??? not so great but only drawback for me so far, will see and advise :biggrin_25511:

You have to ask builders transportation. BTC gets you home every weekend. They pay you everything you are owed. In fact, they itemize each load that you do on your paystub. You'll know how much it paid, how much you received, deadhead miles, tarp pay, etc. Sorted by load. So you can even play with the real numbers to see whether or not being an o/o would have made you more. BTC is a small company, appx 400+ trucks with 50 each year added. They do seem to have a lot of happy people over there. I do like that we don't spend all of our time in orientation class. It's 2.5 days and it blows by quickly.

I will say that the culture is a little rough around the edges. But I haven't a problem with any of the people really.

is the USF Glen Moore flatbed? .29 is kind of low. Otherwise, it doesn't seem like a bad deal. Didn't know of any union companies that had flatbed.
Anyway, looks like a decent training program. 6 weeks is a long time, though. What is the starting pay once you get your own truck?

USF Glen Moore has only vans, no flatbed. $500 orientation pay for 3 days, $500 week while in training, .29cpm to drive starting out in your own truck, great insurance and benefits, home weekly. Internationa 9400 Eagle tractors 2005+ w/ 10sp. Orientation is in Knoxville

HAve you checked with Millis. They have a yard at the 296 exit. They run that AB acct and drivers living in the area get home every day. Millis guart that your pay is never below 750 on the AB acct. If this is not up your alley good luck with your search and drive safe.

I was going to rent a car but it looks like I'm not going there. I can't rent a car and they won't rent one for me, not even if I pay for it. If I took the bus I'd have to catch it just after midnight in a town about an hour and a half away. My wifes night blind so I can't make her do that drive that late at night with my little boy in the car too. I'm heading to Arnold trans in Dallas on sunday for a van job
