So the stuff at home is free? Many trainees don't see the house for 6-8 weeks.
OP, I would take about an extra $300 with you and that'll carry you over until you get a check. You have no idea what them trainee checks will look like yet. Don't pay for any company expenses while in training. You'll have options of getting a cash advance. Some newbies can get like $50-100 a week, depending on the company.
A nice trainer might buy you a meal or two.

I was trying to figure out what that other poster was saying about a "paper trail"
I read that and I'm thinking, "Who you hiding from"
I see the point about that with the DOT...
However a paper trail, will help when it comes to tax time,
if you do keep receipts couldn't you keep them in a briefcase or something
I can't imagine the DOT would have a good enough reason for them to go through it..
or of you really want to hide them, scan the receipts onto your computer.. -
Southpaw7391 Thanks this.

try your utmost best to stay away from advances or you'll forever be in the hole.

I used to budget $15 daily for food. I don't need 3 sit down meals, which can take an hour each easily. As far as advances, I always took mine if there was no service charge. Reasoning is, I at least had some of my money due me in case of sudden "lay-off" or company going BK. I prefer to have MY MONEY in MY POCKET, not the companies. Former Arrow drivers can vouch for this.

Use cash, ive had my card # stolen 4 times last year. Id say $120 is plenty for a week to eat very well. Also depends if ull make enough at said company too.
If you have a locked briefcase they need a search warrant to even go into it. -
$150, chain restaurants suck are more expensive than mom and pop places. Stock up at Walmart eat 2-3 meals out during the week. Fast food, sugary beverages, junk food makes you unhealthy and wastes money. I always keep $20 around for scales or the random toll that ez pass doesnt work on. Heck I usually got money left over.
