Can you not just wrap it around the rail and up to next ring vs using the hog rings? Horrible drawing…

Hog rings are for keeping the cut ends of the rope from unwinding. Not for attaching to the tarp or rubrail.
You can do it your way but it’s very tedious. It’s easiest for me to run the rope all the way through the tarp on the lowest d ring available. Then go back and hook it to the trailer with loose hooks or by looping it behind winches, tensioning as I go.

Got it thanks, I can see where the hook ends could save a lot of time.

Was parked next to this fella today, not saying anything is wrong with it, just think using this method would be a PIA versus either hook bungies or rope bungie, trying to get those knots undone can be time consuming if they get to tight.... What do you'll think? 20210614_135742.jpg

Looks like straw bailing rope to me. You can by the stuff for 1,000 yards for like $5. :) Maybe he got tired of spending money on stolen bungee hooks.

A sharp knife gets it undone pretty quick

Has any flatbedder considered using extension springs in place of bungee cords when it is feasible?

I've never pulled flatbed, but I have crazy ideas for flatbeds.

If I pulled flatbed it would have to have some kind of automated tarp contraption.
The straps and bungee cords aren’t too bad but no way I’m dragging the tarps up and down and folding em etc etc
