    I just use 12", but not needed. I pull up onto a rolled up strap on the inside tire.

    Outside tire will be off the ground and you can put the chain on without driving on it, and tighten it like it should be then.

    At one point I thought about a 6x6 with one end angle cut so the inside tire could drive up on it.
