Have been using this rope for a while now, not had any problems with it. Polyester works a lot better than nylon.
Nylon will stretch under load, also is subject to abrasions ( will cut or break ) will also hold water, takes a long time to dry out.
Polyester is just as strong, has better abrasion resistance and is water resistant.

This is a great site for learning knots

I voted rope but I actually use shock cord. Our trailers don’t have hooks so I have to use loose hooks which slows me down. I like it because it’s easier on the tarps. No hooks to poke threw.
My pictures. I rope most double drop loads because there is no rub rail to route your bungees threw. By the time you get a long bungee stretched tight it’s not really pulling down much. That’s not an issue with ropes.
Nice square load.

I prefer rope, but the trailer I'm using now doesn't have hooks or an open rub rail(fontaine extruded rails). So it's bungies for me.

I really really like paracord. Used it on coils, flats, slinkies, pipe and lumber. It's quick and doesn't tear up the tarps. Also, a necessity when pulling food grade aluminum!
That said, everything has a place in our world. Bungies, rope, shock cord all have their uses in flatbedding. So always be ready to try something new!

I’ve got a 9’10” wide x 8’8” tall load to pick up on Wednesday that has to be tarped, so I’m trying to find something that would work besides bungees since I don’t think those are gonna be an option.fargonaz Thanks this. -
On the Fontaine extruded rails you can also use the strap keeper as a hook.

Rope! But only if your trailer has rope hooks. Otherwise you’re going to hate rope. Lol. I used cheap black rope. Used to use rubber rope but it got hard to find good natural rubber rope and the synthetic stuff just isn’t as good.

Rope is a good thing to carry for a backup. Even some cheap 1/4" nylon rope.
I've met a few people that lost thier bungees or had them stolen. You know the ones that tie them up in a bunch and hang them under the trailer... ...PoleCrusher, Rollr4872 and SixShooterTransport Thank this. -

I use bungees because that's what I'm given from the company, but I've been starting to think rope would be faster and better. Bungees are easier to use for beginners, because they require much less "planning" on how to secure the tarp on an irregular load, but they tend to cut into the tarp around the D-rings and break down with age, use and road salt.
