    I second this

I’ve had these for the past 15 years and never seen it spew
Also running it each month in the summer will help keep the system clean and I also would replace the screen and filter etc
Thermo king should have the kits or online and get one of those little pick sets type small screwdriver deals to get the screen out

    YouTube has videos. Pretty easy

And make sure your Apu is set to fire up if batteries get low
These heaters can put a drain on them

Agreed I am on my second one and never had anything like that. Last one was a 2014 and this one is brand new/ something is running rich.

The best thing about the bunk heater is it serves as a food warmer.

New truck has one but it's piped into the bunk airways, so it comes out the vents, so no more food warmer. This sucks.

It's also an electric APU set up. So far it's worked OK.

The one that works with the diesel apu that doubles as the food warmer is better though. You can bake a ham in there in WHY-OH-MING in the dead of winter until the fuel line freezes.

That's another plus of either. When it gets to about -15 or -20 and the bunk heater starts blowing cold, that means the fuel line to it just froze, and you need to start the truck.

I've heard this argument forever. I've had a bunch of these diesel heaters and always just run diesel. My current Espar in my truck hasn't been touched in almost 5 years/500k. I don't run kerosene through it ever, it's plumbed from the tank. I've never cleaned it. Never fired it up in summer now and then like I probably should. None of it. It just works.

Your setup is cool but a little too complex IMO, i'd just plumb from the diesel tanks and have less to think about. My rough calculations come to full diesel tanks (200 gallons) running one of these things for about 4 years steady, you know, in case trucking gets any worse.

i don't have additional tank installed for kerosene. I think about adding it. On my previous truck espar worked without problem 5-6 seasons. Then it stopped. I opened it and saw that small hole is completely plugged. Inside of chamber was dirty too. I spent a day to clean it plus $80 was spent on parts. It started working again... in RV forums guys say use kerosene and your espar won't need any burn deposit cleaning later..

The cleanness of burn is a function of lower parafins in kerosene. But the diesel has a higher caloric density, which is close enough to be the same as higher heat output.

The reason for running kerosene should only be because lower parafins=cleaner and lower propensity for gelling at extremely low temperatures

BTW i have installed new version of Espar Airtronic. It's D2L. Compared to old model this one starts faster. Instead of original controller i have installed Digi Max D1000 controller that has air temp sensor inside. This setup rocks ! I have more stabile temperature in cab/sleeper. Original Easystart controller does not have air temp sensor inside but it reads fault codes. Digi max D1000 also shows fault codes.
