Made in china, with north american engineering, or at least over site is one thing. A chinese knock off, for 60% less is another.

Chinese knock off stuff has been proven to be junk, time and time again. Inferior engineering and parts. I'll pass on that.
My fire started between the batteries and starter. Apparently 387's with c15's have had a few. There is a wire hold down that rubs thru the insulation and it shorts to the block. According to the insurance companies hired electrical engineer.

mine was doing the same thing, double checked the grounds and it still did it, but I cancelled the low voltage shut off on it and it stays on now, my inverter has a read out though and it never drops more then 12.2v even when I leave it on for the weekend so I’m assuming there was something in the controller, but I never did anything with it

I bought it at Canadian tire I’d think you could get it at any automotive supply or camping place

There’s a small gas station here that has it in a barrel next to their building. I don’t think most people even know they have it.

Yeah, kerosene is available at about half the gas stations in the South, the Mom n Pops anyway. You aren't going to find it at a big chain.

But.....I always hear of people saying clean out these diesel bunk heaters with kerosene. I'm going on 3 years with mine and have never done this. I've never cleaned or repaired it, never fired it up off season or done any maintenance whatsoever.

It NEVER starts on the first try. It starts on the 3rd try, always. This means I turn it on once, fan comes on, it tries to light and doesn't, does this a sceond time and blows some smoke, then the third time it always fires up and runs all night.

When this finally stops I'll clean it.
