Bunny, I filled out the info on the site to get a recruiter to call, and so far, nada. I live in Omaha, which SHOULD be easy to get to as it is the center of the main east-west route across the USA. But I thought that with my first company, and it seemed every truck in the fleet went through Omaha regularly except mine! I will give them a call. Another driver gave me a NAME to ask for there, so that should help.

    kingsson,

darling do not give up...with the holiday season in full swing, most of our people are taking vacation before they lose it..so we r alittle short handed at the moment..unlike the drivers, the office people either "use it or lose it", us drivers get to bank it and use it whenever we want..now i am not a recruiter but if you like i can give you and your wife my number and i can put you in contact with my recruiter and you can get your information in that way..whatever i can do to help i will...if you call the regular celadon number and ask for a Becky J in recruiting, she can have approved in the same day you call...she's really good and will give you the straight up "what for"..she's great..:biggrin_25525:

This may seem like a dumb question but why do they only pay 50% of the idleaire cost? Are you a company driver or an O/O?

This is the same recruiter another driver gave me. I don't know how I would get your number via this forum, but I bet there would be a nice referral bonus for you! :biggrin_25525: You would deserve it, too!
I was working in our office today, but tomorrow morning I may give Miss Becky a call.

So just to make sure I understand you right..

Celadon has heaters in the truck, but in the summer you are not allowed to idle the truck..If you are waiting to get unloaded in Phoenix in August, you are not supposed to idle?Lets say it's one of those rare occasions when you aren't doing a drop and hook.

I also don't think that "it's cool" that Celadon pays half of the Idle Air..
They should pay it all.You drive for them, they should, at the very least ensure the drivers have a comfortable environment to get a restful sleep.I BELIVE THIS SHOULD BE PROVIDED,AT NO EXPENSE TO THE DRIVER.

Last I checked, idle air cost about $1.80 an hour.If CELADON is paying half, that leaves the driver responsible for the other .90 cents.Lets just call it a dollar an hour.At $10.00 a day,30 days a month, thats $300.00 a month THE DRIVER is paying out of pocket just to get a decent rest.Nowadays, thats half a weeks pay.I don't belive that's good at all.Or fair for that matter. That money could be used to pay bills at home, not give CELADON a free ride.

I also don't buy the line about them not getting their money back on APU'S. APU'S Pay for themselves the first year. But if you have company drivers eagerly/foolishly shelling out money to pay for idle air, than why would they put in an APU?

I've never driven for CELADON,and from what I'm reading here,I couldn't imagine that I ever would. They seem like just another dirtbag, meatgrinder outfit. These type of companies are a dime a dozen.I've already seen that movie a few times.

Idle Aire is up to $2.40+ an hr and from what I heard Celadon use to pay for the whole thing until they bought out another company and that company was only paying half of Idle Aire
