There is no easy way in this business man. There is local work but a lot of people already doing what you are trying to do. It is a tough market to stay within Ontario especially without a direct daily account situation. Start working the load boards and go from there. Steady good paying work doesn't just present itself.

 

Any time is fine. Some will say wait til the last minute to squeeze for the absolute most possible. The likelihood of the load being gone goes up if you play that game. That's not to say to haul it for whatever is offered. This is where you need to know what lanes pay what rates and what is way off and what is good. Myself, I like steady decent paying work. Others wait and rip into the broker for huge amount. The market staying in ontario would be difficult to play the wait then rip into them really good. Other markets are different.

Loadlink is expensive but is the Cadillac of load boards and has the most Canadian freight on it. For me it is worth the expense. I have considered closing my account now that I have steady customers and don't login very often to find loads very much anymore. When I do, it always finds me new customers...so I am keeping it.
