I was about to say... 1.58 a mile out of MA and you're complaining? How bad is Toronto?
-
Need some insight on this little incident my driver had today.
The truck is leased on to a Carrier and dispatched by Home depot.
In the Home Depot distribution centre, they have a snow removal blade. My driver went under the blade and got the tractor through. Then got down to see the clearence for the trailer so that he could adjust the height of the blade accordingly. Before he got off, he pulled the brakes which caused the trailer to move forward (Slip) and the blade hit the trailer. The was snow under the blade which made it slip forward. Now the trailer is dented.
In this situation, what should we do to protect ourself? -
Hire drivers that are not so freaking incompetent. There is no excuse good enough to justify striking an inanimate object.LoudOne Thanks this.
-
This driver is very competent.
-
He is using the excuse that the truck moved cause he set the brakes. Setting the brakes doesnt create momentum.
-
He told me few times about the truck moving forward when the brakes were pulled. And he would have to back up to a dock again. This was only with new trailers.
In this situation, I think he went into it. The blade wasn't set at the correct height and he thought it was. -
Yes some trailers will move forward a bit when brakes are released and suspension dumps air...mine is like this... which is why you only pull red button when needed.........
You are going to have a hard time protecting yourself on this one... your driver damaged equipment by his own doing... you may have to pay unless someone looks at the damage and it's minor enough they say don't worry about it... and no you can't deduct it from his paycheck. This is a company expense..not4hire Thanks this. -
The damage isnt minor. Its bent a lot.
-
Then he probably forgot to set the brakes altogether. It sounds like you are going to have to cough up.
Alternatively you try to blame the customer and your trucks never get in the gate again...
Edit to add:
Do you feel like you need a stiff drink yet?RollingRecaps and not4hire Thank this.
