This company gave me a rate to haul regularly from GA to Markham, 42000 lbs and about 925miles.

The rate he said is: $1.74 USD/mile. Seems low?

Ya like a buck 25 a mile low to a buck fifty to low.
I'm seeing south Carolina to upstate ny running for 3.50 a mile right now with flatbed freight. I know vans don't do as well as flats but add in a border crossing and it shouldn't be more than 30 cpm difference.

Yep but with vans they can always count on lots of suckers to get really enthused about $2 a mile on a longer haul like that. So even though they might have to pay $3+/- now and then to carriers that know what it takes to squeak out some profit there are enough desperate and foolish carriers out here that will do it cheaply they'd be crazy not to reap the rewards of that.

    spyder7723 Thanks this.

I figured it is a low rate. Even my dad said.. if it was $2/mile USD, its a decent rate.

    Freight seems low today.

In today's market 2 bucks a mile is total garbage.

So you mean to say... loads are paying well over $2/mile?

The cabotage law as well as our seemingly infinite flow of new Canadian trucking companies makes it difficult at times. Add to it our anti-business policies that just drive business out of Canada and $2usd doesn't look so bad at times..

Also, your currency is about 35% higher than ours, and our housing and food is not tied very closely to the exchange rate...

Absolutely. You should be getting over 3 a mile right now. The market has changed. This time last year 2 bucks on long miles was good. this isn't last year.

@gokiddogo Hey I wanted to ask you if you suggest me added U.S board to my load link. Currently, I am only using Canada brokers for U.S and the postings for TL- Van into U.S are usually below 80 during peak times...which seems very low when compared to inbound Toronto.
