Sigh....You need to read what "I" wrote. I don't need to read any states manual to say that I have always considered a jug handle a button hook or vise versa. It's just how I always thought of them, the same. But the question that I asked is "why not start to make a wide turn, before the turn, as opposed to making a wide turn when your halfway into the intersection"?

Who cares if what I say contradicts others? Of the 3 million commercial drivers in this country how many do you think handle situations exactly the same way? You drew a picture and told a story and asked a question. I said what I would do. I don’t care what you did or what anyone else would do.

It’s true. This blue one turns way better than my old turquoise one.

I would not have given two dead rats how many cars were behind me when making a turn. I also have been making right turns a long time and know exactly how much space it takes me. A lot of new drivers, but not necessarily you, are swinging far too wide for ANY and EVERY turn. I would not have blown my horn at the car. I've have sat perfectly still however long it takes for the car to decide to back up, most cars, no matter what will pull forward in that situation. None of this is criticism of you. I'm telling you how I make those turns. I learned how to keep my trailer tandems right at the spot where the concrete curb and gutter meet the asphalt road surface. Not even a bicycle could pass me on the right. Most newbies swing so far wide they invite reckless 4-wheelers to ATTEMPT to pass them on the right while the truck is making it right hand turn. If nobody got hurt and no damage was done, you did a good job.

When I learned to drive I thought "jug handle" and "buttonhook" were the same thing. Half of the difficulty getting through CDL school is having one instructor yell his word for the thing while every other instructor is yelling the word they use for that same thing, each of them denying there is another word for the thing they are yelling about.

The CDL Manuals for all 50 states unanimously use the definitions I use for jug handle and buttonhook.
