Buying 87 Freightliner

I can work it, that isn't a problem at all. It's not everyday you run into a clean older truck and why pass up the opportunity to have a full mechanical engine for cheap? Besides I love old trucks.

 

The company I'm with will let me lease it on. They could care less about the age as long as it passes DOT and besides the owner of the company loves the FLC trucks.

I highly doubt the wiring has been hacked up since I worked at the company who owns the truck and the mechanic was very stingy about every little thing on the trucks. The air lines actually looked to be pretty good shape and changed recently.

My plan is I need to talk to the owner first to see if I can bring it to the terminal and use it as a yard truck for now and that takes care of the working issue until I'm 21 which will be next year. The only major thing I see needing replaced at this point in time are the tires. I haven't crawled under the truck yet to physically look at the brake shoes since I was in my dress clothes and had just gotten off work. I plan on doing a good inspection of it Tuesday and getting pictures too.

 

I turn 20 in July.

 

Exactly and I said in my original post that the carrier I'm with now will let me lease it on. Besides there are quite a few companies who will allow older equipment such as CRST Malone is the one that pops in my head. If I remember I think Landstar doesn't have an age limit either. Either way I'm not leasing my truck on to a big company, it's a small 200 fleet carrier.
