Owner operators I’d like to get your opinion, I found a good deal on an older spread axle reefer trailer, the floor and insulation is solid and it has a new TK reefer unit on it. My concern is some rust on the crossmembers and frame. It’s a 51’ Great Dane with a fixed spread.

The trailer is a 2007. Would it be hard getting loads with it?

Yep. Not alot if people load trailers older than 10 years, plus that's alot of money to dump in to it spend the money on a newer trl.....5 years

Could be the ABS sensor wires. That is what mine look like.

OP if you can get a camera to look at the interior area above the Fifth wheel plate.
I bought a bargain priced trailer. Planned to R and R the deck. Removed the deck above the fifth wheel plate, all the cross members were compromised with rust. The plate pushed up the cross members from the weight and weakened cross members. All the cross members and the plate needed replacing.

    77fib77 and 201 Thank this.

Depends on what you’re going to use it for. If you’re doing mostly fresh 28* and up it will probably do fine. If you’re doing mostly frozen loads, then the unit is going to struggle, even though the insulation looks good it has lost the majority of its R value.

Bad idea to by a 51' trailer. Shippers won't want to load you. Buy a 53'

Horrible idea. Buy something no older then 5 yrs max. Preferably 3 yrs or newer. I would not run that trailer even if it was free tbh.
