I'm an owner non operator and I'm currently renting a trailer . I've been thinking about purchasing a trailer and I've noticed that not all carriers own trailers some just rent their trailers ....Any reasons why that is ? Any info will be greatly appreciated

Some carriers need to "adjust" their utilitazion monthly. So, May is slow, for instance, and much easier to return rentals to dealer instead of selling trailers. They can add/subtract trailers as needed. A little more costly but it works for them.

Also lots of companies set up more then one company. Company X buys the trailers and rents them to Company Y. That way they get a double tax break.

I've noticed some sweet deals on trailers lately.
Consider what you may be getting from a mega though, some have had harsh lives.
