    Hello,

I am looking to buy a truck and dont have much knowledge when it comes to semi trucks, I want to get into driving the end load dump trailers. Wanted to ask what would be a good truck for me To start ? I have been looking into 06-07 freightliners columbia with Detroit 60 engine but they are hard to find. So what would be another good truck?

    thank You !!

Kw, pete, mack are your better choices if your playing in mud.

FL isn't built for abuse. Rear ends blow up to easy.

    Nevenm91 Thanks this.

I wouldn't even look at an aero/highway spec truck for dragging an end dump. Typical fleet specs will work but its not the right tool for the job. You want something built to handle the demands of the job.

    singlescrewshaker and Nevenm91 Thank this.

You find the same rear ends are available in KW, Peterbilt, Mack etc as well. Nothing wrong with a Freightliner if its properly built for the task.

OldeSkool, haycarter, MACK E-6 and 6 others Thank this.

key word being properly built.. And FL doesn't have the same supplier so i was told.. They're not the same rear ends. They can't handle the abuse.

If you're putting 40k rears in a vocational truck, doesn't matter what brand they are. They won't last. They're a wimpy rear end meant for box haulers. Step up to 46k rears if you need something that will survive.

Repeating what the wrecker man said..

FL is a highway truck. They're not built for dirt.

They'll haul in the dirt. But if you get stuck in mud. Don't bother trying to get out.

You do realize Freightliner builds more than just POS aero trucks?
