do you o/o's ever buy from a small town pump?

i understand sticking with the company card as they are filing the fuel taxes.

but yesterday, i ran into a town that said 3.53. and the next town was 3.45.

i would have stopped if i hadn't already just filled up.

last month. i was loading southeast of denver. there local grocery store was selling 20 cents cheaper then denver truckstops.

since the idea is the cheapest possible price. do you all stick with your fuel card. or do you take advantage of the cheaper price and just use your debit card? provided the funds are available to spare!

and i know small towns are usually MORE. so i was kind of surprised to see that low.

or are there reasons not too? besides working that long arse vehicle in there. but these two had rooom.

I've even gone as far as buying diesel at Wal-Mart gas stations!! Buy a Wal-Mart gift card and you can save alot off pump price as well. I have gone as far as dropping my trailer at the truckstop to get into a Sheetz where it was .22c cheaper then the truckstop I was at!! I've never had a problem with the cheaper fuel and I use to just turn the fuel ticket in and write paid cash on the ticket for IFTA.

I buy 99% of my fuel at small truck stops or small little gas stations that sell fuel. Much better service and the price is allway cheaper than the big chains.

See it all the time. Southern, AL US Hwy 231, forget the name of the town, Flying J was 18 to 20 cents a gallon higher on their posted cash price than what regular gas stations in the same town were charging. I always get 6 cents off cash price at any Pilot/J. depending on who you are leased to your price could be anywhere from 6 to 40 cents off the cash price. So it might not make sense for you to get it at the smaller stop. You may end up paying more. In my case I wouldn't have. You need to know exactly what your discount is. And if they don't take a comdata, tch or whatever card you have and you don't have a personal credit/debit to pay with then the point is moot anyways.

That flying j is in Dothan. I buy fuel from small places whenever I can, I prefer it, I'd rather give my money to a mom and pop than a big chain, and most are always cheaper, sometimes I use my card but I usually use cash.. The casinos that have fuel are usually quite a bit cheaper also..

Free showers is a plus but I've never had a problem bumming a shower off someone standing in the fuel desk line when I wanted one and didnt have any on the card. And I am willing to pay for one if it comes to it.
