Yes I’m getting ready to buy a 2014
Kw with paccar engine it has 331000 on it. I ask dealer if he could give me the history of the truck they told me they had no way of checking the history. It’s my understanding that it was a lease truck from paccar is the dealer lying to me. And could I check with paccar if I gave them the vin number

Stay away from the PACCAR MX-13, the after-treatment system is problematic.
There's a lawsuit against PACCAR for that issue.
Google it.
Do your research before you jump into one of these Post-Emission trucks.
If you have to have a KW, buy a 2015 or newer with a Cummins ISX15. It's not the greatest engine either, but it's the lesser of two evils. -
Yes I went today and look at a 2014 kw with the 455 paccar engine. I ask the sale man if they could give me the history of the engine.i wanted to know if engine ever had any major are repeating code. Sales man told me they had no way of knowing that. He said it was a lease truck threw paccar I figure paccar would know if any thing has been do to the engine sense it would of been under there warranty. I think the dealer just don’t want me to know. If you think I’m right and know how I could find out the history I would appreciate the help.

Full ECM down load will tell you most of what you want to know about repeating codes. As far as the salesman lying to you I have no idea and it sounds like you don't trust him. I would just move on to the next dealer, there are thousands of trucks out there, just find another truck if you don't trust this guy.

KWs have some history with electronics. I know a guy that spent 14k on a 2012 T700. Find out all you can.

BUMBACLADWAR Thanks this. -
So if the truck checks out great with Paccar, you will still deal with the dealer that lied to you from the start? Seems very stupid.
And by the way you worded this, it seems your mind is made up. Are you just wanting one person to validate your bad decision? I’m not be mean, just being honest. Happens A LOT on here. Guy will ask how good a company is the evening before orientation. Or about the engine/transmission in a truck that was already purchased.buddyd157 Thanks this. -
Where I work, the company leases a bunch thru Rush Leasing, and mechanics claim the Paccar engines are pain, and expensive to repair. They say to go with a Cummins, or Detroit, espicially when buying used.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I would go with Detroit most people that like pacar or Cummings are not the ones paying to fix them

All I wanted to know is if there was a way you can find out if engine has had any major problems. Dealer saying no but if it was a lease truck threw paccar would they have a record of any work done to the engine.it would of been under paccar warranty so any work done to it the should know don’t you agree
