I have a BXS cat motor in a 2005 379 Peterbilt, and it is randomly shutting down. It may be 2 hours or 1 month apart. There does not seem to be a pattern except that usually the oil light comes on right before it shuts down, but the oil light does not always come on. It will immediately crank up again with the key even while going down the road. (This truck does have a bully dog on it).

Make sure the ECM hot and ground are good.
Have you tried unplugging the bullydog?

Thanks for the tip. I will try unplugging the bullydog, and I will make sure the ECM hot and ground are good.

If power/ground to ECM check out then I will bet ECM bad. Doing this for a long time and ECM replacement is always the last resort. I am only jumping to conclusion because in the last month I have had 3 bad BXS units in shop. All were original from 2005-06. All were intermittent exactly like yours. Cat's seem to exhibit intermittent problems instead of like the others that just die completely. In all seriousness, check everything well before replacing.

I am checking on the oil pressure sensor now. I cleaned the ECM connections, firewall connections, and the battery connections. Thanks for letting me know about the ECM; I will let ya'll know how it turns out.

One of my trucks done the same thing in ND
I started the truck pulled the hood over and started wiggling wires till I found it
It was on the driver side right above starter on inside of frame rail at that fuse block
    Good luck
