No problem, you'll just have to send your truck to El Salvador or China, or some other low-rent destination, for maintenance... just like the airlines do.
And continuing on the related aviation theme; aircraft have had glass ####pits* with next to no "steam gauges" for quite some time and legacy aircraft are switching over at a frenetic pace.
*What a silly censoring.
Bye Bye legacy dash...peterbilt is going all digital.

I'm sure there's going to be an aftermarket to convert back to proper gauges soon enough.
kuzima93, Speed_Drums and Rubber duck kw Thank this. -
It’s going to be interesting to see if Peterbilt supports aftermarket solutions, I hope they haven’t done anything in the software that would prevent the aftermarket from taking advantage.

With multiplex gauges it’s gonna be a nightmare...

The reason for the switch is to update wiring harnesses across the platform. The new T680 and 579 have full digital dashes and that’s why the 389 is getting one.
At least they’re spending the money and updating the 389. Same can’t be said for the W900. -
To me, digital displays and crap like that is for cars. It doesn't belong in a truck.
tommymonza and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
It will be interesting to see inside the dash, I’m guessing one group of wires going to one plug. I’m sure someone will come up with something, but getting a single harness to talk to a bunch of individual gauges probably won’t be cheap, especially when you have to buy new dash panels.
Personally I’m looking forward to messing around with one. They’re highly customizable when it comes to what you want displayed and where you want it displayed at.BoostedTeg, not4hire and Tug Toy Thank this. -
Screens don't belong in any dash, car or truck.

Unfortunately, until the feds shut all the old trucks down.

They gotta get the trucks ready for the next Gen drivers. You know the ones that cant even change a tire on a car or even be able to tell the difference between an alternator and a water pump.
