Paccar is looking to gracefully exit the hood business as they did with gliders, partially driven by EPA standards and partially driven by the large fleets who are constantly willing to purchase new equipment if it promises increased fuel efficiency.
As was stated above the gages are not as useful with the advent of computers that can present data to the driver when something goes wrong. Lol take a look sometime at an older DC-9 commercial airliner’s flight deck and a new all glass A350 flight deck and you’ll see what that industry went through. It’s just our turn...
Bye Bye legacy dash...peterbilt is going all digital.

The electrical grid can barely handle everything we're throwing at it now. I have a feeling electricians, construction workers, linemen etc are going to be in great demand to make this pipe dream a reality.

And let’s not look over the fact that the Obama-era fuel economy standards for class 8 vehicles will be coming back because Trump used an E.O. to get them stopped while he was in office. So the manufacturers that sell hoods will have to push a lot of aero trucks out the door in order to keep their mpg averages within the standards.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
I think that could go either way. If a classic is selling, why mess with it? Folks who want the digital stuff and a more modern appearance will opt for the W990.
I heard the same thing about the T800 being discontinued once the T880 came on the market. That was like what, almost a decade ago now.
Or it could mean the W900 is getting phased out. Either way doesn't effect me lol. -
I will be ordering 2 w900L by fall of this year. Love the studio sleepers and they are a fantastic truck.kuzima93, Geronimo17, Vampire and 2 others Thank this. -
