My guess is the average price on a 900 is $50k more than a average t680? I’m betting the profit margin is higher too?

I’m only saying what I was told. Paccar wants to streamline everything across the platform , which is the reason for the 389 getting the dash. Now the models share the same harnesses. I asked why they don’t offer the MX13 in the W900L and if they ever have plans to. I was told “KW has no plans to update anything on the W9. It’s not even getting the new wiring harnesses for a digital dash like the rest. Paccar plans on keeping the 389 around longer than the W9.” Could just be salesman talk, who knows? But to me when all the other models are getting updates except this one it leads me to believe it’s not because they surveyed current owners.

Could be true sales managers don’t always have the right answers. But even International is bringing back a square hood. Something like the old 9900i
Think about it though most of us independent drivers and over 30+ years driving don’t want the new fleet truck crap nor all the beep beep ####. So as they say a W900 is an investment not a use 5 year truck #### can and get a new plastic fleet #### truck

Collision mitigation technology is now standard in Lonestar Internationals. That sucks.

Agreed. Good luck on your new W9's. How will you be speccing them out?

Indeed good luck with the 2 new W900s. Love to see them in a photo together at the dealer before the "work story" truly begins.

As others have said, the aviation industry is all "glass" at this time. The newest Boeings and Airbus products do not even have backup analog gauges.

I personally like analog but time matches on. I have one truck that is analog, another that is "glass". Overall, I setup the "glass" to look like the analog and away I went. Glass in a 389 wouldn't turn me away from buying it. I'd like the choice of analog but I get streamlining the production.

Paccar makes both the 389 and W900. They can afford to go all glass on the 389 and see how the market responds. If there is an issue, plenty of folks will run over to the W900. Two hoods, two different sets of gauges, one winner....Paccar. Already heard and read several guys stating that they will go with the W900 now over the 389. Again, Paccar doesn't lose, only Peterbilt in a sense.

The T800 is also not getting the "glass". They are being kept old school to continue and capture that market space. I believe over time they (W9 & T800) may transition but it will be after Paccar sees how the proverbial water is. There is just no reason to put all your eggs in one basket. Save the R&D on updating the W9 & T800 and their cabs for after you know the new "glass" is here to stay.

Also, think about it this way. Does anyone believe that Paccar is going to kill the W900 and T800?!?!?! The W900 makes up close to 20% of all sales. If the T800 does half of that, KW is basically ghosting 30% of ALL KW sales, in a market where they can't keep trucks on the lot.

I'm surprised they're using the 389 to test the waters out on the "glass." Seems like you see a lot more 389s than new W9s, a lot larger market you're playing with I think. Maybe I'm all wet on that one though.
