I'm currently pulling dry van with Werner. I live in Ohio. I've got about 9 months experience. Leaning heavily toward flatbed. With my end goal being heavy haul. I was wondering how do I go about bypassing flatbed and going straight to stepdeck? From the research I've been doing they are the same except stepdeck has more options and is easier. Does anybody know any companies that let you do this?

Any company that has both flats and steps. I don't know of any company that will say "We have a stepdeck load, but you are only qualified to pull flatbed."

Might need to run stick and brick loads for a bit before they want you running expensive equipment anyway. If that's the case I don't see how it's any different doing it on a flat or a step, except the flat tends to be easier for some of those loads.

You gonna to find one that will train you tmc may be a good fit are Maverick , but it is going to be which one will teach you, from what I understand with tmc you have to work your way up, but I don't know for sure good luck

I dunno, but since you own a Batmobile, I'd think that would be way more fun to haul stuff with...

Who the hell told you step deck was easier? Wait till to have to tarp a press or a cnc machine or any industrial piece of equipment. You're gonna wish you had a load of lumber

Not sure I've ever heard of a driver ever "bypassing" pulling a high-boy. You'll pull what the company tells you to pull (unless you have your own authority). Highboys have different uses than steps and they both have different uses than double drops, etc.
You may want to start on a high-boy. It's far easier to balance the weight of a load on the trailer and tarp.nightgunner, Highway Sailor and Lepton1 Thank this. -
It's a trailer. Pull it.
