Set the trailer brakes, leave truck brake pushed in.problem solved. Drove my share of company trucks with idle shutdown

if you have cruise, try setting it after the truck is parked. The Volvo's we (My company) have will allow drivers to set cruise even if it's in neutral. In essence bypassing the idle shutoff.

I have a thermoking too. Go out and open the cover on the motor, there should be a shut off switch on the front right side. shut it off and try your heater again it should come on. At least it works for the Espar heater I have.

Better that a driver freezes all night than upset the tree-huggers.

Only works for 15 mins doing that. Even with both brakes released, with it in drive (automatic), and with my foot on the brake. I've had it shut down while stopped in traffic.

The heater should work without the APU running. For sure, you have to have the panel on.
Maybe you have to reset the unit. There is a reset button along the top edge of the control unit under the bunk.
To reset, shut down the display, push reset and turn the display on again(Main Power).
Shut down APU option and push Mode to heat and it should fire up.
The bunk heater runs off the batteries and is independent from the APU itself. All it gets from the panel is the on/off and the temp setting.

I found how to do it in a Coronado with a DD15....if you just apply the trailer brakes and release the tractor brakes, it fools the ECM and stays running continuously.

mid 20's shouldn't be to bad to sleep in without heat, thow a extra blanket on, electric blankets are great for not idling in chily weather don't draw much power eater, i sleep like a baby like that till it gets down in the teens.

as far as how to make it idle mabye unplugging the sensor but its a parameter in the ecm that needs to be changed to allow idle

I"ve found that the hand warmers attached to the sensor via a tensor bandage will keep the temp. up to where i need it for most of the night....as i usually have to get up at least once during the night, i switch out the hand warmer for a fresh one and there i go. it doesn't work if it rains however.....and i intend to order some of the 12+ hours kind so that it will go through the entire night. honestly, i don't think i ever want another t680 to drive....
