    I seen companies do what you described so I don't doubt it. but it would be Hella awesome if you fine detail methods they used to do those crimes. this not only helps us it helps you and may help lawyers if you ever use them.

    When you say "recap hours" you mean the hours you get back at midnight on your 8th consecutive day? If so, then it's perfectly legal to run on recaps without a 34. In fact there are many drivers out there who do it often. The 34 is an option, not a legal requirement.

    If a driver has the Automatic transmission restriction on their CDL they have no idea what you talking about.

    When I read that, my impression of his comment was he believes (perhaps correctly) that CDL mills schools no longer teach the fine art of running a recap logbook.

    "When your 70 expires, you have to rest for 34 hours" - CDL instructor teaching his/her class about logbooks, right before they test out in a shiny new automatic transmission truck.
