I have a c13 kcb engine that is getting about 4.78 mpg no matter what I try.
    Tried
    Changing oil filter
    Fuel filter
    Oil
    Air filter
Bumped it up from 430hp to 470hp
Bumped torque from 1550 to 1750
Set cruise at 65 with rpm at 1500
    3:58 gear ratio
Cant figure out why im still getting the poor fuel mileage
Pulling moderate hills here in Pa
Showing no codes and no blow by on the stacks, No black smoke..... Any Thoughts from anyone would be appreciated thanks

Higher horsepower and 65 mph equals better fuel mileage. .. NOT

Appreciate the advice, Pittsburg Power sells them free flowing mufflers for a bout 200 I will give it a try,
Can I ask what your oil pressure is at operating speed... Mine is around 35 to 40 psi and oil temp is around 230 to 240 most of the time... Any Idea if that is at the right place ?

Actuallly!, Yes you can get better fuel milage with high porsepower, but other thing have to go with that, like trans gearing and gears in your drives, Motor doesnt work as hard to hold the speed

1500 rpm is likely your problem, If you could cruise at 1200 your fuel mileage would be way up.

EDIT = I did some checking and I was wrong. Got this from an article on fuel economy. "Cat's other heavy-duty models should turn at these rpm at 65 mph: C13 Multi-Torque with 1,750 pounds-feet, 1,325 rpm; C13 with 1,650 pounds-feet, 1,400 rpm"
