One of my C-15's has developed a squealing noise under power and jakeing. It's an MXS ACERT. The sound resembles a squealing belt or the sound when you slowly let the air out of a balloon. It is coming from the pass side and appears to be turbo related. I checked all hump hoses for leaks, pressure tested the CAC and checked both turbos. Both have smooth free bearings and neither are rubbing the housing. I also checked the waste gate and it appears to be closing all the way. I checked all of the bellows and all appear intact with no cracks. I don't see any evidence of an exhaust leak anywhere. As near as I can tell there are no leaks on either the suction or pressure side of the turbos although I may be missing somewhere to look. On power, rather than a nice clean turbo whistle, it squeals, on Jakeing, the squealing is the same but flutters slightly. I'm obviously missing something. Thoughts?.

Most times it is a hump hose that was tightened dry. First thing I would do is loosen the hump hoses, take a cotter pin removal tool and free up the hose from the pipe, use some soapy water, on the inside, and out then retighten, do it on every hose. Put neversieze on the clamp's threads
The other place you can get a whistle is on the turbo mounting flange, if it distorts the gasket will flutter, with a soapy solution in a spray bottle check all the turbo mounts.
Just a thought!Licensed to kill Thanks this. -
Check manifold also for leakage at inserts and gaskets. Just a slobber of soot could be your answer.

there are so many clamp connections for the acert setup that you can easily miss a leak. the way I have found to find a leak on them is to idle it up to about 1500 rpms then squirt with windex or soapy water on all the turbo connections. any kind of bubbles show up that is a leak. pay close attention to the accordion piping from the precooler to the turbo that is buried in behind all the mess!Licensed to kill Thanks this.

Did that, soapy water on all pressure connections also sprayed a bit of ether around suction side connections as well as on the steel bellows (looking for cracks). No sign of leaks.
