Hello everyone first time posting on here. Little rundown about myself I got out of the United States Army in 2010 and was stationed at Ft.Hood, and moved back to Oregon once I got discharged out of the Army. I've been driving trucks for about 8 months now. I just turned 36 years old and I'm in top physical shape. I've done my research about the oil fields and know pretty much what companies to apply for. I'm going to head down to south Texas and looking to get into becoming a frac hand because to be honest I'm not interested in driving full-time anymore. I would like to work for pumpco but my question is how long does it typically take to start working once you're approved by management? I was either going to fly out there and once approved then drive back once I get a start date or if they are quick in getting you started then I would just stay there. Also what places have a man camp? I called pumpco in south Texas and the lady said I would need to talk to a hiring manager about that, which didn't help much.. Lol.. I just would need to get settled in for a little bit before I moved the wife and kids out to Texas.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
John

Pumpco in south tx would probably hire you I you made it very clear that you planned to move close to the yard. They used to give you 90 days in a hotel if you were willing to move. You'll make good money down there that's for sure.
Mcb77 Thanks this. -
Hey Me99 thanks for the advice! Much appreciated..

have u tried sanjel? my buddy is fracing with them and making over 100k...he supervisor now tho...2wks on 1 off
Mcb77 Thanks this. -
Yea I've read about Sanjel, and have heard nothing but good things about them... I will definitely apply for them when I head down there and pretty much any decent company to work for. Hopefully one of the better companies will give me an opportunity. I'm leaving a pretty decent job here in Oregon driving truck but I really miss Texas from when I was in the Army so hopefully the risk will pay off.

cool man...baker hughes is hiring down here to in san antonio....6 on 3 off for frac hand

That's funny you say that. I applied some time ago with Baker Hughes, and went through the initial screening. They then set me up with a phone interview with a supervisor since I live in Oregon. We just kept playing phone tag, so we never got in contact and i moved on. I still had the number from the voicemails he had left me, and called him on Friday. He said he would interview me but its got to go back through the recruiting department first since it's been a few months. He told me he would email them and they should be in contact with me sometime next week, but it's out of the Eldorado Yard. I would probably take the job, and heard mostly good things about them, but seems like the housing is pretty scarce in the West Texas, and San Angelo area.

Security58 is it better apply in person or on the web site? is the title of this job "Equipment Operator - San Antonio, TX"? Thanks
-
Hey 5-20 from my experience it seems that you have to apply online, but I could be wrong that's just the understanding I got from the supervisor I talked to on the phone. Maybe security58 has more knowledge of the process than I do.

Mcb77 Thanks I will apply on line.
