I think Volvo are up around 750 or 780hp. Scania have been at 730 for a while and I believe Benz will be breaking the 800hp mark soon... it’s just the American gear which is stuck at 500-600hp...

I appreciate the answer.
For those of you who think I am a hot rod or something, taint so.
A given amount of horsepower developed from a fuel burn of up to 30. US Gallons per hour upgrade, it is cheaper, timesaving and faster to lift 80000 over at the speed limit and very high horse than it is to grind along redlined in a less horsepower truck puking 30 or more gallons plus burning time uphill among other problems.
I believe big engines are happy engines. It's the poor little ones that need overhauling and stuff at half a million. They just have too much.
I had this revelation when I hit Milesburg's 10 mile grade here in the USA at about 119 and the fuel pump was activating and feeding FULL fuel at 116 at the bottom. Halfway up 5 miles (7%) I am at 86 and pulling down below 1600 more or less towards Detroit torque slowly dropping in RPM Came over the top at the speed limit or nearly so at 60 By then I was backing off my hammer. It simply did not need fuel much. Most of it was momentum. And upsie she goes.blacklabel, Intothesunset and Davo81 Thank this. -

I sold this truck about a year ago, it had a C 12 with a super 10 behind it. I had it turned up to 500hp and 1650 torque and the guy who bought it had it turned up even further.
Running up to Flagstaff, driver was not watching the gauges and promptly blew the motor.
They had it rebuilt and I saw it running out on I 10 couple months ago. -
My belief is you Turn them up and than use that the xtra power on a regular basis the company nines life is dramatically shortened.
These trucks are all in need of torque not horsepower.
No replacement for cubic inches to get you there affordablly.
