C15 Bridge Question

Bridge engine has 1 turbo. The Engine serial number would start off with a MBN (if it is the C15) There were some issues with them but should have already been addressed by now. But get your engine serial number (off side plate, valve cover, front plate or oil cooler) and call your local CAT dealer. They should be able to tell you if service history and if all service letters were performed.

 

Thanks BigKWhopper... I did that and there were only two things done and one of them was just done a couple of weeks ago at the selling dealership which happened to be an ECM update. And the other was done a year or two ago and it was not due to a failed part.

I am going to call the CAT shop tomorrow and see if the person I spoke with was missing something. I am having a hard time believing a 750,000 mile engine never needed any work. But the good news is they had an extended warranty on it up to 500,000 miles. So it is not like they took it somewhere else to save a buck.

Not at all impossible, if taken care of. We have a Mack with ~1 million miles that has never had ANY major work done to it. Still runs like a top.

My 525hp MBN pulls like a freakin' train.

Keep Cat or Fleetguard filters on it. None other.

Keep a spare fuel bypass valve (it regulates the fuel pressure) with you. They get tired. They are cheap. Less than $30 at our KW shop.

Easy and cheap mods you can do for more power.

A fuel pressure gauge would be a good idea. Need one good for 100+ psi. I got an electronic digital gauge good for 150 psi.

I am going to pull some oil out of it I hope tomorrow and send it out. I am interested in seeing the report before I talk final numbers.

 

What gauge did you go with? And since it is electronic you only had to run wires into the cab, correct?

 

If you want digital I've had good luck with Dakota Digital gauges.

 

I checked out the site and I couldn't find a high pressure 100psi+ gauge. Do you have a part number or better yet... a picture?

They'll make whatever you want. They'll take an air pressure gauge and put a fuel pressure label on it. They have sending units from 0-150psi and 0-400psi and they work with air or liquid. I used one of the air pressure gauges I had for fuel for a while.
