That's the way mine was doing. Problem was the check vale on the fuel filter base where the primer pump is. It is a 1" nut screw in from the bottom of the filter base. When it goes bad it will allow fuel to bleed from the injectors. The nut head is all you can see, but it's actually a valve screwed in there. It cost about $50 at Cat and can be change in 5 minutes or less. When you install it, leave it lose and stroke the primer pump until fuel start to flow out. Tighten the valve (do not over tighten) stroke the pump a couple more times. She should fire with out ether.
C15 Cat wont start

Don't let the primer pump open after priming. Always tighten it before starting. It wouldn't be the first one to come apart and you're fxxxxx right at the spot.
I just ordered a new pump for me. Mine was leaking when I primed the new filter recently. A bit over $200 CAN plus gasket, plus tax.Oxbow Thanks this. -

I have a problem with a 379 pete with a 6nz. I cant get it to start. I replaced the gaskets on the front cover and marked every gear before i pulled them off and put them back exactly the way i took them off. I have at least 70 psi at the fuel filter housing but i cant get any fuel out of the return. I have even pressued the fuel tank to get fuel to the filter. Can somebody give me an idea on what to do.

Crack the line coming out the back of head at the filter base while cranking the engine. That will get all the air out.
SAR Thanks this. -
Once all the air is out close the line and pump the hand pump. You should get fuel out the return even using the hand pump. It should fire.
SAR Thanks this.
