Hey truckers, I have a 2007 kw w900 with a nxs c15 model. I didn’t start the truck over the weekend and Monday I tried to start it it cranked for about 15 seconds than stopped it felt like the batteries died even though I bought them new. Now it cranks one time than locks and sounds very very heavy trying to turn over but doesn’t. I removed the alternator belt and turned over the fly wheel thinking maybe the pistons were stuck but still no luck. Can it be the starter . Any thoughts? Thank you.

So you put a cheater bar and socket on the engine and it still didn't turn over? Is the starter stuck in the "open " position?

Jump the solenoid on the starter ... it will probably fire right up.

I have the same issue every once in a while for the past few years. Gives a dead key that sounds like it is hydrolocked. I think it is the starter relay. I havent replaced mine because if I cycle the key a couple times it will usually turn over. AND I havent found an aftermarket non KW relay ... and they want like 300 bucks for something that should be 20 dollars. Non start for me happens a lot when the batteries are getting weak ... maybe you have a loose connection on your new batteries.

No I open the cap on the passenger side of the engine to access the fly wheel and use a screw driver to turn it over. Thanks for your reply

Thanks for your reply. Mine usually happens like this when it’s cold and I try to start it and it doesn’t fire up from the first time. Do you think I should change the starter? That’s my plan to change it today.

How do your cables look? Have you load tested them?

The gear reduction starters are nice! I like my mitsubishi ... think its been in there around 4 years now. FYI, new starter made no difference for my dead key problems.

Yes they look fine. Now it’s cranking but very slow and still won’t start.

You put jumper cables on it. Charge from your car. My Kia soul takes 45 to 60 minutes to charge batteries once they are dead.

Slow crank sounds like you've got a bad battery out of the new set
