Have a few Cats hanging around here. One has a crack in the front cover. It is in front of the idler that runs the fuel pump and air compressor. Did not thank we would need a book for a front cover job but stopped when we did not find timing marks on the gears. Would really like to pull it down and inspect before a book and front cover show up. Any info appreciated. KIMG1213.jpeg KIMG1212.jpeg

Uploaded the gear install and backlash procedure so you can start. Timing marks are on crank gear, cluster gear, cam gear and front housing. I would bar engine to TDC #1 and look @ timing mark between cam gear and housing. May not line up dead on so you know if half tooth left or right. Torque not listed in disassembly/assembly use generic Cat torque chart.
