Besides, mileage means sweet f### all when talking about engine life. You HAVE to consider the hours. Not every truck spends all day, every day doing 65-70 down the highway. That truck sounds like it ran local, so slower speeds, stop and go etc. It's probably got way more hours on it than you think.

honestly right in between. So we knew the owner. somewhat acquaintances. Talked for a week about the truck. He had some mechanic come out and look at it and then he got it DOTd. Took it for a drive a few times. Everything seemed ok. AND my husband also seen the shininess....Honestly we should have had it brough to the shop before hand now seeing what position were in. We did oil samples now and its bad. super bad. Lesson definitely learned. Do oil samples first. Its completely our fault. Just stinks

Its not an easy pill to swallow. It definitely sucks. I apologize if I came across harshly in my post, we just see threads like this pop up quite often where the poster is in a similar postion.

Did the seller drive this truck daily or did he have employees drive it?

Oh god you didnt. Honestly i came on here to be put in my place and i appreciate the honesty. Its definitely a rude awaking to owning a business and a rig. We have always just drove for a company. This is our first venture off on our own and were learning...fast.

It sounds like a mix. He drove it and others did as well.

If he drove it, and owned that truck for more than a couple months, id say its more likely somebody knew something was up. Why was he selling it in the first place? Does he have an “in house” mechanic? Or does he service his trucks elsewhere?
