Seriously consider replacement of the head. I spent $2800. At a machine shop I use for my "car" heads. I should of swapped out the old million miles head. Cost me a mini-inframe. Found a hairline crack in the head. I decided to run with it. Lasted only 30k miles.

I have an update on the head. No cracks. But I have 5 bad valves. I was told 4 were for the the intake? So that’s where I’m losing my compression. That’s why I’m losing power. I plan on rebuilding. Not sure if buying new would be better? Since technally they’re reman. Everything else checked out so I will not be doing an inframe for now. I only have 800k miles. But I will be buying new fuel injectors. Pretty much new from head up

if your head isn't cracked getting it done by a machine shop with cat experience using IPD valves, seats and guides. fitting IPD cam bearings and reusing the springs, collets, washers and retainers while resealing the injector sleeves will save you a few dollars compared to Cat reman.
I personally use the IPD cylinder kits. They're great value for money. the pistons are better and made to a higher standard than Cat. I do still however buy genuine rings to fit to the IPD pistons. it adds cost but I cant afford a customers truck to burn oil.
if your rods measure up just reuse them. if they're over hauled make sure you measure little end clearance as the cat bush out of the box is much tighter than I would except.
IPD bearings and gaskets are as good as in some are even better than genuine... plus they're cheaper.they do a kit for the oil pump for about 45% the price cat want for a reman one.
they also do a 16:1 compression ACERT piston which would be worth considering.
IPD stuff is quality and reasonably priced. I personally use it and have dozens of ACERT nxs and pre ACERT 6nz/9nz/5ek/2ws with IPD parts fittedswaan Thanks this.
