yes the 625 and 550 435's are different compression ratio. the 7172 is an industrial application that is what you want to go with. but like I said make sure it has the acert crank in it or they wont work with an 6nz crank. 6nz is a two bolt rod cap compared to the acert 4 bolt rod cap. the rod journals are different. acert is a 6.75 stroke crank compared to 6nz being 6.5 stroke. the 7172's don't come in a overhaul package you have to buy them separate. you can save some $$$ by not getting an overhaul package. if your head is good and just needs a valve job and redeck and hopefully does not have the relief cuts KEEP IT and repair it.

Alright. Thanks superhauler. I'm new to owning a truck and I'm still learning a lot about all of this. So would you recommend getting a bronze overhaul kit which is only gaskets and bearings and piece out everything else?

don't feel like you're alone on this! I have a pretty good running 475 acert(former TMC truck), out pulls most everybody that I run with daily. was pulling black mountain on 40 in NC back in the spring when I see an old 377 Pete gaining on me,fast. oh well , he's probably empty. nope ,blew my doors off, loaded to 78k. 444 cummins, Pittsburgh Power total kit(1000 hp) , but it's got a boost leak that he's gotta fix when he gets home. I wanted to set my truck on fire!!!!!!!

The head is the same. You will have to use acert rods with acert pistons. Cut the bowl of the pistons to lower compression. Or get the 7172 liner packs. No block mods are needed. Same block as acert.

Lmao, PP doesn’t even sell the fuel parts to get to 1000hp safely on a big cam.
