Something we all need to keep in mind, motor year models are a year behind truck year models.

I don't know anything about converting between the two but I promise you put 50 tons on a c15 6nz 550 and a c16 7cz 600 and the 6nz will get pulled! If it's a long hill the 6nz will get embarrassed. I've ran them all 2ws turned up 6nz turned up cummins turned up and none will touch a stock 7cz. As far a fuel mileage goes my c16 does just as well as any truck I have just weighs more.

still, they are the best powerful engines out there for gliders and pre-emission trucks.

If massachusetts isnt too far a ride, call Jim driscoll at a machine shop called Lawrence Crankshaft. This guy can handle any machining that it may need, and assemble it all in house. This guy is a real old school guy, that knows his stuff. Ive been building engines for over 30 yrs. now, and i will not bring my machine shop work anywhere else. Although i do my own disassembly and assembly of my own engines, he also offers these services, and has an engine assembler that is a master at what he does. I dont think you can go wrong with him.

Thanx for the contact. We've took it appart, checked all tolerances , new cylinder head and reassembled. Engine's at the paint shop and will be ready soon to be put in my Glider that arrives in december. :smt023 7CZ00471 will have a second life in a brand new W900L. You'll see it around New England States next summer.

I'm glad to hear there's another c-16 out there getting ready to be put back in service. I'm glad all went well. I'm running 7cz-02195 myself in an 01 Pete daycab. Hope to see you out on the big road.

I am an engine novice. Can anyone tell me about the 08 Cat C15 Acert with the SDP prefix engine. Ive heard you should run from these engines but Im wondering if there is any way to own a truck with this engine and be able to run a business without going bankrupt? All I hear is the bad so Im wondering if there is any good information to offset all the bad news. Is there a way to maintain these engines to lower the risk of expensive repairs or failures?

I read through the entire thread and there is some great information and everyone seems to love Cat motors but does that love end with the Acert C15 SDP?

SDP are known for tons of problems after dpf standards were introduced. The only way you maintain your sdp is modify the engine. We are not allowed to talked about emission deletes. Remember that!!
