C18 marine cams

Ive come across many 6nz engines that are supposed to be the be all end all but none have out pulled my MXS with twin turbos . I love my MXS Cat , i just took it out of an 05 western star and put it in my 13 Western Star . The useless DD15 detroit is now resting against a tree. Thats about the only thing its good for

 

If you're looking to build massive HP or torque somewhere down the road than you may want to throw a cam in now but if I were you, I wouldn't bother. You can get more than enough without swapping cams. I'm tuned with a bigger turbo and putting down over 9xxHP/2000lbs of torque at 1600RPM. I have no desire to go any further. You might feel differently though. There are pullers running so much more!

 

What is your mpg

 

Never heard anyone brag about fuel economy with the C-16. I think better quality flow matched injectors is better ROI vs camshaft and usually lands happier owner. I think @swaan tried cam in past and never really liked it.

 

Last quarter it was about 7.5.
