I have a new to me C7 Cat in a Pete 335 box truck. It runs good and drives good but one thing kinda bugging me - The temp runs 150-175 degrees ( I got it to 175 on the warmest day so far, about 80, uphill full load with the ac on ), usually 150-160 in the mild cooler weather I owa has been having the last couple weeks.

I am used to 180-200 normal temps..... do I have something screwy going on or is this a CAT thing?

    You just need new thermostats.
    It should be running 185-190

180-200 is normal temp range for them. You need to verify that the gauge it accurate, I usually use a temp gun on the T-stat housing to verify that it matches the gauge and the ECM temp in Cat ET. If the engine is really running too cool, most likely the thermostat is not sealing or hanging open slightly.

Check your gauge for accuracy. I have 99 with cat 3126 and reads same about 175. Gauge is about 10 degrees off from ecm temp always reads a little colder
