No; it is 40 feet kingpin to rearmost axle (KPRA) on tandem (or more) axle trailers over 48 feet.

    California Vehicle Code
    35401.5

(a)(1) The length of the semitrailer in exclusive combination with a truck tractor does not exceed 48 feet. A semitrailer not more than 53 feet in length shall satisfy this requirement when configured with two or more rear axles, the rearmost of which is located 40 feet or less from the kingpin or when configured with a single axle which is located 38 feet or less from the kingpin.

Sorry about confusing the issue I guess whoever made that sticker was wrong. I just took that picture last night because I saw the sticker on the side of one of the trailers

One is 41' to the center of the rear axle, the other is 41' to the center of the tandem

Even the Prime one is slightly wrong. For MI it's 37 to 41, kinda like the MD already in the sticker (Not sure what MD is though, so it might be a different hole....

Yes, but one 41 is farther back then the other 41. The entire picture porkchop posted is misleading. If you look at the bottom. It says locations using the 41 foot mark. With CA having the longest 40 foot mark. And throw in the axle locations.

I don't know about you. But i think i'd use the prime sticker over the other one. It seems to be more accurate.

Perhaps, but that assumes that all trailers are created equal, and we all know they're not.
