If I am mistaken on the Moving/non moving violation, I appologize, I was just told that from my trainer back in the day. He was an old time driver! I am not even sure if they had steering wheels back when he was driving!

    No you're not mistaken.

I'm just offering the advise "Be careful". Depending on the jurisdiction and the local/county/state dumb#### that runs it, it may get pegged as a "moving violation".

What do they mean by a restricted area?

Does this mean that they will allow idling when it's either hot or cold?

I also read that some states are banning the idling of APU's.

Yup, namely California. Only one APU meets their standard of air quality and it produces heat. So far, there are no APUs that produce air conditioning that meet their criteria so you can't cool off no matter what you own or what you do unless you go to a hotel or something. It's really sad.

I am just curious, and please bear with me as I am a simple driver, but what the heck! Really. I swear Americans hate truck drivers. Ok not all Americans but at least the government. You have to sleep some how and they limit our hours in order to accomplish that. Now they dont want us to be comfortable.

Ok enough whinning. Dang that is so paradoxal.

It's quite simple, really. They want to do what's right for the environment and all that BUT they have NEVER had to live the life of a trucker so they don't realize what the impact is of the decisions they make.

If they're going to make life-changing decisions like this, I think they should each have to spend at least a week with a trucker, living in the truck, in the peak of summer heat, so they can understand what this is all about.

I always preferred the cold - there are many ways to warm up and handle it but how do you cool off sleeping in a tin box that's over 100 degrees???? You can't.

Hopefully it won't take deaths to get this across to the bureaucrats who are making these laws but I fear it will :biggrin_25513:
