I like the idling law in NYC. No idling anything for more than 3 minutes. I mean, idling laws are bull anyway, but atleast they cant idle cars either. NYPD writes a lot of tickets too.

I've idled many times in 70 degree weather though. Lets see. I had a truck where the company decided it only needed 3 batteries for a while. Had to idle it to do anything with power.

Parked next to other jerks idling and had to idle because of the heat from their engines.

And finally, in direct sunlight, even in 70 degree weather, it can get HOT in my truck, and freightliners have horrible insulation and no real way to get a breeze through the sleeper..especially next to anything...

But, only IF the company permits y'all to idle AT all.
You know, to save money by cuttin' costs.

However, try suggesting that those trying to save a buck at y'all's expense, turn the A/C and/or heat off in the building containing their offices and/or cubicles. See how important they think saving really is.

Now, if only the AQMD would come to their senses and correct their error...........
I wouldn't be suggesting that they're a bunch of uncaring morons too stupid to know when they're so far off base that they're playin' a sport in the wrong stadium arena.

So, as long as what's being done wrong is done wrong to everyone, equally, that makes it right?
    Or just fair?

    Hmmmmmmmmmm -------

    Then, I think you'll appreciate this, -------------

Here where I dwell, the local police department formed a "Commercial Code Enforcement" Unit to be sure that the citizens of this fair city get the feeling that they're protected. In other words, the P.D. saw another way, besides red light camera traps, to make a few extra (million) bucks.

One of the laws they regularly write citations to Big truck truck drivers for is idling.
To catch those waskel desperado twuckers, the city spares no cost to equip their police vehicles with all the latest electronic devices available.
But those devices demand and consume a lot of electrical power, --- without which, all that modern electronic equipment goes zonkers, and useless until they get their resident geek to figure out how to jump start it.

The geek came up with a brain flatulence, and suggested the officers do something that's easy to do and will prevent him from having to do anything, and still get paid, ---- just leave the engines running so that the alternator continues to provide the vital electricity that their electronic equipment, that aids them in catching those who idle their engines in excess of what the law allows, gets enough juice.

    Pretty smart geek.

Except, ------- the amount of gas those police vehicles burn to keep the electronics happy, is probably far in excess of the amount they prevent Big trucks from consuming in fuel.
Which might cause a citizen to wonder if it's really worth it.

All the city bean-counters have to do is open their bank deposit records for the answer. It's all there in black and white, no red ink. What the city rakes in from citations issued for idling would more than pay for a year's worth of gas, ---- in about a weeks time. The next 51 weeks are all profit.

It ain't really about the idling.
It's all about the money to be made using idling as an excuse to commit highway robbery.
    I think that's "bull"sheep-dip.

But they have a badge and carry a gun, and sometimes officer Big Dawg bites.
And if anyone kicks officer Dawg for biting, they're arrested and charged with assaulting an officer.
I'da thought they'd arrest Big Dawg for impersonating an officer.
I think they should pin a badge on a donkey.

    But, ........ I digress, ............................................... :shaking::shaking2::smt108

Powder Joints, look on the bright side. That loves is going to bring some local jobs to your town, as well as some new tax money to your city hall. And think about all that extra money the local sheriff is gonna bring in for all the no idle tickets there gonna write. And you get to fill up your truck just before you head over to the house for hometime.:biggrin_255:

    Hmmmmmmm

    Good question.
I never thought about it that way before.
Why should the people in a large town have to put up with 5-acres of trucks idling?
    Does size really matter?

I suppose a small town truck stop would disturb fewer people
than a big town truck stop would, --- is a possible reason.
How close to the Love's do you live?

How do you feel about prisons located in small towns?

So, Love's sold out their customers for a piece of profit pie?
    That's good to know.
Apparently Big truck truck drivers, to Love's, are just a transportation device for a wallet, --- which Love's doesn't mind emptying one way or another.
If Love's doesn't manage to break the bank, by golly, let the enforcement dudes give 'er a whurl out there in what's normally considered a neutral DMZ.

I hope Love's has a sign posted that
    it's a five-star, Judas approved truck stop.
    We'll not only sell ANYthing,
    We'll sell out ANYbody
For a few pieces of silver.
    Is Wal*Mart there yet?
    Tough decision, huh?

    phroziac Thanks this.

The office for the place i work at is not air conditioned at all. I sat in the terminal managers office a few days ago, sweating my arse off.

But it does flow air a lot better than a truck sleeper...

Why should folks put up with 5 acres of of trucks idling? Because without we truckers being safe on the road, delivering our loads would be compromised. And without adequate rest, delivering our loads safely is in question. Idling in hot and cold weather helps us to be safe!
Everyone likes to use toilet paper to wipe their rears. Everyone likes to eat, and eat well. And the list goes on and on, regarding what we deliver, and what everyone must have to live reasonably well.
This new "fad" against idling will sooner or later result in catastrophic accidents, because we are not properly rested. And guess what? The general ignorant law makers won't get their rear wiping paper!:biggrin_25521::biggrin_25516::biggrin_25510:
