It's not exactly "fixing" but I know a way to make it stop. Mine only went nuts once or twice a year so my boss thought I was crazy because he never actually saw the problem happening so he never sent it to the mechanic and I had to take matters into my own hands.
I have enough trouble sleeping on the road as it is without the dome light making it worse so I took the dome light down disconnected the wire and reattached the bulb and the plastic stuff that's holding the bulb (put the dome light back up after the wire was detached). To all the rest of the world there's nothing wrong I just won't have a dome light in the cascadia anymore which hardly matters because I have those little reading lights just to the right of the steering wheel. And disconnecting the dome light doesn't affect the sleeper dome at all.
You'll need a T20 star bit, 1.8 mm precision screwdriver, and a medium or small flatbed.... And a moderate amount of patience.
Use the flathead to push the tabs of the dome light down till it comes about halfway off the ceiling if not entirely off. Then use the star bit to unscrew it.
The precision screwdriver is for detaching the wire from the dome light itself... It looks like it's something that ought to be really easy but it's actually not. One part of the wire just slides in the other part is locked in. So you need to put the precision screwdriver between the two wires... On mine one is purple and one is black... Precision screwdriver between the two wires to push the little white plastic tab down to release the wires from the dome light.
Then just screw the dome light back on without reattaching the wires and it looks as good as new.
I wish I had a way to attach some pictures to this or something because I'm a lot better at explaining things when I can just point. The words don't really do it for me. Anyway I hope this helps some.
