That truck was in Toronto in April for a truck show. I was more interested in the black volvo xxl cabover outside than mean green inside the show. I met Boije Ovebrink outside the black truck briefly.
It was a few weeks before he broke the speed record with mean green hybrid.

Really nice equipment fom any point of view.
superb handling capabilities and what else.........but it'll never happen here under current rules and regulations.
That 2+4, 2+5, 4+5 deal with all steerable wheels....etc, etc, it's only considered 6, 7, 9 axle deals here and under current bridge laws with that amount of deadweight you'll have very little payload capacity.
I guess we're stuck with what we have....hundreds of feet long, goose neck after goose neck, a gazilion non steer axles (ruuber and asfalt killers) in groups of three spread for "miles" behind you, no hidraulics cause that just adds to deadweight, etc, etc, etc.
Unless laws change, we're stuck in the early to mid 20th century forever and even then it is a stretch cause I've seen German 1070's built modular platform trailers with individual hidraulics suspension and steers, etc, etc, etc.....
I've seen those modular platform trailers here too, but only off road, like in sea ports, industrial complex, etc, for in house big moves. Mammoet is using them even on roads when nothing else would work, but they have to reinforce every little bridge on the way or use makeshift bypasses or barges over water.
I also have seen Mammoet using them regularly on road transport in Alberta Canada only, but only with alternating 2 rows of wheels on and 2 rows of wheels completely removed.
I guess that, on this side of the Atlantic, we're completely incapable to build infrastructure comparable with the one in Europe in order to be able to use equipment like yours.........or.......just thinking here,.......maybe the infrastructure is not that shabby, just the darn law makers!

You see, I'm proud of America for many reasons, but for the transportation and creeping socialism issues I'll have to say that I'm embarrassed and completely disappointed.

 

I actually hate people saying things are to complicated. The new Mb is by my knowledge built by humans right? If it's then it's fixable.

To save cost if you have a couple of trucks you have your own service car like the company I work for at the moment, 20 trucks.
Take what happened a couple of months ago when an axle broke on the trailer. The guys at home fixed a new axle, tools, took the wan and drove 1100km. Changed the axle and 23h after the axle broke he was on the road again.

Meaning a maximum of 26t on the truck
And the rest on the triple meaning around 24t

 

I know a few guys that bought their own diagnostic computers , they don't seem to have any problems with repairs, it's usually something mechanical goes wrong before there is any problems with electronics!

 

Here all tractors used for max legal weight limit at 80000lbs GVW (aprox 36.4 metric tons) are 6x4 or very rarely 6x2.

Steer 12k lbs - aprox 5.45 t
drive + drive or non drive - 17k lbs (aprox 7.73 t) + 17k lbs

With permit for overweight moves

Steer 12k lbs or up to 20k lbs (aprox 9t)if appropriate axle ratings and tires

Drive + drive @ 20k lbs + 20k lbs
or
nonedrive + drive + drive @ 20k + 20k + 20k

 

I hate all this useless electronics incorporated in the new trucks. I understand the part for the emissions regulations you can't get around, but the rest is completely a pain in the rear. I like the directly hard wired breakers for lights, power windows and what else stuff on the truck. Why in the world do anybody need computer modules dooming those simple controls for failures that only a computer geek can solve??

 

Hey guys! There are many good things and also bad things on both sides of the pond.
I've always been asking myself why is it that those good things on both sides seems to disappear in a light speed fashion and the bad ideas are being, just as fast, incorporated trough stupid legislation??

I love the fast disappearing American freedoms and liberties mentioned in the greatest constitution that ever was created by mankind. I love the wide open spaces of the "fly over country" (the coasts people call it that way, the middle of America). I love the site of good whole country boys and gals saturday night having a good old time on the wooden floors of a country club corral dancing and listening to loud good whole country music enjoying that brew or that whiskey or that tequila shot or whatever.
I love the the fact that anyone can have that 2500-3000 square ft of a country bungalow or log house, or whatever suits your fancy house, by the river or lake at the foot of the Rockys or in the beatyful Appalachia or on the oceanfront, ....if you want it bad enough and work hard.
I love the wide good roads that take you across the country for thousands of miles in any direction without being in that bumper to bumper mess, only in the big metropolis areas you encounter stuff like bad traffic. The part missing here is the opportunity to climb in one of those good looking superior quality rigs (like the MB Actors, but with 2 X or even 3 X the sleeper) on Monday morning, and go to work pulling a high tech trailer like in the pictures in the above posts, while getting 9 to 12 mpg making it that much easier getting that dream home you always wanted. And God: Please get rid of the outrageous and suffocating stupid laws and regulations that do nothing for safety or justice, but only create confusion and grief for the common man, the working stiff trying to make an honest living!!! Please Lord! Amen!!!
But the "American Dream" it's only a dream!

It seems to me that if we could get rid of these crooked politicians, it might just be possible to achieve things like that on both sides of the pond.
I doubt that any of these would happen in my lifetime! Maybe 100 years from now........maybe never.......who knows?
